Wentworth Institute of Technology Digital Viewbook

Education Web Design Project Brief

Our partners at Stoltze Design connected us with the Wentworth Institute of Technology, an engineering college in Boston, Massachusetts, where we were presented with the opportunity touse our skills in education web design to build a micro-site without using a CMS. Our digital viewbook coincided with Stoltze’s redesign and release of the WIT Admissions print viewbook. Check out the Technology Notes for more information on this responsive site loaded with features.

Technology

The site was constructed using php, and includes CSS3, HTML5, and javascript. It is fully responsive, uses parallax in the Five Factors section on desktop, and has the additional feature of an animated color bar along the left edge of the site. The color bar scrolls in the opposite direction when scrolling down the inner pages.

Since Mozilla Firefox does not natively support videos encoded using .mp4/h.264 codec, videos on wit.edu/viewbook are integrated using both Vimeo and the open-source .webm format which is supported by Firefox for videos encoded with this bitrate.
