As I’d expected, the wire-framed emerged very quickly, actually only a few hours work. The wires were done in Axure, as we do for all projects: knectar wires
After a check-in with Val, who was excited about the concept, and had many useful tips and suggestions in terms of how to structure the various components of the site to address SEO concerns, the project has already taking shape.
The key components that the wires captured are:
Widen the site to give it breathing room, increased the readability and open space.
Have fun with tags. I build three main tag sets that would be handles for various kinds of cross-referencing. These included:
technology tags which would be tied with services from projects
projects tags which would be tied with projects from services
partner tags which would be tied with projects
integrate comments per project detail, service detail, and blog post (unusual, daring!)
expose twitter dialog related to company on all page templates
expose quotes (testimonials) on all page templates
expose social bookmarking, and linked-in on all page templates
expose team members, with their opt-in, as we are defined as a network of freelancers rather than full time payroll organization model. The idea is that we convey more strength and accountability to potential clients by advertising our network.
Once the IA had seemed to work, I was able to dive in to the design with this blueprint in hand.
Good times, but not easy, and the design is still evolving. But I believe that it has landed on an impactful and representative brand identity that accommodates the information elements in an accessible way.
